Cholesterol – Why Low Cholesterol is NOT Good For You

Everyday we see advertisements

in the media, on television and in the internet telling us to keep our cholesterol down in order to prevent heart disease and stroke. So much so that people are worried whether they have high or low cholesterol levels in their bloodstream.

This constant reminder is putting unnecessary pressure on people and make them worry unnecessary and eventually they imagine that cholesterol is the main culprit for all their ills.

Recent findings reveal

that too little of one type of cholesterol has been linked to memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease.
In this research, scientists studied more than 3,500 civil servants to investigate how levels of HDL or “good” cholesterol were associated with memory. They found that HDL cholesterol can influence the formation of the beta-amyloid “plaques” that are a distinctive feature in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients.

They found that higher levels of HDL

are also believed to protect against damage to blood supply caused by the narrowing of the arteries.

At the end of the five-year study period, the researchers found that people with low levels of HDL were 53 percent more likely to suffer memory loss than people with the highest levels of HDL.

Thus, they conclude

that those with impaired memory are at an increased risk of developing dementia later in life.

Autism – The Common Signs Of Aspergers

What are the common signs of Aspergers?

The common signs of Aspergers are many.  Although individuals with Aspergers are often highly intelligent but they have very poor social skills. Most people with Asperger have highly developed memory, especially when it comes to reciting facts, numbers and dates.

Individuals with Aspergers often exhibit many of the following signs:

They have unusual communication style, either talking in an overly formal way or not talking at all

They have problems with social skills, have no or very few friends and they have difficulty relating to people.

They are very obsessed with specific topics and interests.

They are highly sensitive to noise, commotion, how clothes feel or other sensory issues.

They also suffer from motor problems such as odd posture or odd mannerisms.

They have difficulty making eye contact.

People who has Aspergers often avoid looking people in the eyes.

It is physically difficult for them to do this. It hurts them to look people in the eye. They often cannot concentrate on what they are saying if they have to do this at the same time. One theory is because the human face, and eyes in particular, hold so much information and people with Asperger’s are so sensitive in some ways to this information that it is overwhelming for them. They might not be able to correctly interpret the information, but they are aware it is there and this is overloading to them.

Some even say that it is literally a burning feeling to look into someone else’s eye.

Many of them are able to overcome them and can train themselves to do this over time and others try to do it minimally. So, if your loved one who has asperger and is not looking at you while you talk, it doesn’t mean he isn’t paying attention. Rather, he’s focusing and taking in the information in the way he know best by NOT looking at you!

Autism – Aspergers or Asperger’s Syndrome

Aspergers or Asperger’s sydrome

and Asperger Syndrome disorders are used loosely to mean the same thing. In fact, Autism and Asperger Syndrome spectrum disorders are quite similar except that autism is more defined in that the disorder is more pronounced and more noticeable.

There are various degree of autism or Asperger syndrome spectrum disorder and no two cases are the same. The milder ones are more difficult to diagnose and are detected at a much older age. The more severe cases are easier to identified and detected much earlier and at an earlier age.

Early intervention and treatment is vital

and may result in better improvement. Unfortunately, there is no cure for people with autism or Aspergers syndrome spectrum disorders. Their condition may improve over time, but they will have to live with the condition all their lives.

Some live normal lives and got married

and have families of their own. Others are gainfully employed and some cannot manage on their own and have to be assisted and the more severe cases have to be institutionalized and placed in nursing homes and constant help must be provided for them.

Autism – Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Explains the Autism Coverup

Is Aspergers an illness or some  kind of  a different personality?

Many people asked, whether Asperger’s syndrome is really an illness or just a different kind of personality. The answer depends  entirely on your personal perception of things.

However, there are CHALLENGES

There are some very real biochemical and physical observations that are different about someone with Asperger’s.  Aspies , as people with Aspergers are sometimes called, will often have trouble initiating and sustaining social contact. This is so  because they just don’t “get” certain things right about what they are supposed to do.They will have trouble with loud noises and crowded environment. Going to school may overwhelm them. Especially, with all the children running around and no clear instructions  of what to do. The worldto them may feel too disordered and chaotic. They prefer routine, set rules and they like to do everything the same way every time but the world does not allow for that to happen. They cannot understand why they have so much trouble communicating with others and why others find so much trouble understanding them.

BUT THERE IS HOPE

People who have Aspergers can learn to work around all  these problems, often quite successfully. Whether, you view it as a disorder or personality difference, it does affect those who have it quite a bi. But there is hope and there is help available, especially in the Internet.Problems can be solved for those who have Asperger’s syndrome disorders. It is not as bad as a death sentence. Some famous people have been said to have Asperger’s, such as Einstein and Bill Gates. If we had none of the people with Asperger’s, then we would be losing a very important way of thinking that has helped many people not only succeed but excell in their work and career.

This is just a small part of the answers

you will need to successfully survive and thrive with Aspergers. If you are looking for additional information click here.

Cholesterol – Statins: Best Selling Drugs In The World

Cholesterol is a much debated topic

not only in the medical community but also in the general public because of the cholesterol scarce. Cardiologists and the big pharmaceutical companies are telling you that lowering your cholesterol keeps your heart healthy. This is the reason, why cholesterol-lowering statin drugs are the best selling drug in the world.

But, the truth is

drastically lowering your cholesterol levels will increase your risk of dying sooner! The thing is, your body needs cholesterol as it needs air and water. Cholesterol is found in every cell of your body and is needed to produce bile acids, cell membranes, hormones and vitamin D.

Statins is selling well because of the fear that high LDL cholesterol level increases your risk of a heart attack. Not only is this treatment ineffective, it is also very dangerous because of the many adverse side effects. Moreover, lowering cholesterol does not address chronic inflammation, which is one of the root causes of heart and many other diseases.

However, inflammation is your body’s  defense

against foreign threats. Like, if you suffer damage to your arteries, inflammation causes your blood vessels to constrict and your blood to thicken. The damage you sustain is patched up by a protective scar known as plaque.

Now, because of this injury, your liver makes more cholesterol to replace the damaged cells during inflammation because no cells cannot be formed without cholesterol. The plaque, the thickening of your blood and constricting of your blood vessels, is what increases your risk of high blood pressure and heart attacks. It is NOT cholesterol.

So far, there are no scientific studies

indicating that cholesterol damage blood vessels cause plaque and heart attacks. Moreover, Statin side effects are also more dangerous than having high cholesterol. Statins inhibit the production of cholesterol which is supposed to help you have a healthier heart. Ironically, what the big pharmaceutical companies don’t tell you is that these drugs deplete your body’s supply of CoQ10 – (CoEnzyme Q10), which supplies energy to your heart.

Please be warned

using statin drugs to lower cholesterol will not help you reduce your risk of heart disease.

Autism – Jim Carrey & Jenny McCarthy Talking With Larry King

Who says that one person cannot make a difference?

Just read and view this video showing actor Jim Carrey and actress Jenny McCarthy talking with the famous talk show host, Larry King on Autism and Asperger Syndrom.

For those of you who have an autistic child or know a relative or friend who has a child with autism, please tell them that there is hope. According to this couple in their fight against autism for their son, they have found an answer, a way out. They have manage to cure their son of autism and is now living a full and normal live.

They agree totally that vaccinations are necessary

and beneficial and can help prevent many diseases and have saved thousands if not millions of lives. What they are saying is that vaccinations should be spaced out over a period of time. And to limit the number of vaccines administered to a child, not 32 vaccines in a short span of two years.

This they believe can trigger a child’s auto immunology system and create problems and maybe the reason for the vast increase of autism and Asperger syndrome cases. Just imagine, it was 1 child in 10000 children inflicted with autism only a few years ago. And now it is said to be 1 child in 150 children having autism development disorders and asperger syndromes disorders.

Please wise up, the medical professionals are not listening.

The FDA and the pharmaceutical manufacturers are not listening. And worse of all the paediatrics who are supposed to be the guardiance of our children health are completely disinterested and are not listening to the mothers of autistic children, for reasons they only know.

You have to be proactive and seek treatment for your child yourself. Go to the internet and you can find the answers you are looking for. Better still, get in touch with the mothers who have treated  their children successfully and are now leading normal lives.

Autism – Are Vaccines Responsible

There are so many views

and schools of thought on the causes of autism.  And it is very difficult and creates a lot of confusion for parents of autistic children and Asperger Syndrome to decide who they listen to. Who is right and who is wrong on this fast growing cases of autism around the world.

Three are as many answers as they are questions.

However, do not despair as there are lots of information on the internet and help is just a click away. You must be proactive in the fight on autism. Just keep on looking until you find the answer because it is out there and there is hope.

Below is a video on the probable causes  of autism

Many blame on the vast number of vaccines a child is given from an early age. Others blame on the mercury contain in these vaccines. Some say it is hereditary and a child most probably got it from his/her parents.

Some others say it may have something to do with the diet or food. And many blame it on the environment and the air we breathe. Whatever the reason or reasons, there is no one clear explanation or answer. More research has to be done and more tests be made to get to the real cause of this epidermic that is inflicting one in 15 children a day.

Watch carefully and listen attentively to what Dr. Danial C.  Dantini MD, a food research expert on food allergy and immunology has to say on the subject on the probable causes of autism.

Cholesterol – Statins: The Dark Side

The results and the  side effects and problems

of taking Statin Drugs are many.  Like amnesia, confusion, disorientation,  forgetfulness and senility. They can also cause, reduce energy effects, chronic fatigue syndrome, congestive heart failure, shortness of breath, fluid retention, frequency of urination and hepatitis.

Many people also complain about neuropeptide dysfunction  (nerve damage that causes pain in the hands and feet and trouble walking) thought, sensory and emotional disturbances. And many more suffer from frontal lope dementia, multiple system atrophy and Parkinsonism.

Doctors also reported that people taking these statins drug

may also suffer from a muscle and nerve syndrome like that of selenium deficiency. Their hormone levels may fall when the statins therphy reduces the production of cholesterol in the blood stream.

These are the many side effects

of people taking statins over a long period of time. And when doctors  prescribed statins to their patients, it is a life long medication which they have to take everyday. The fact is, the medication and the adverse  side-effects is worse than the disease.

So, please beware when your doctors prescribe statins for you.

Autism – The Many Faces Of Autism

There are many faces of Autism

No two cases of autism is the same although they  may have similar behavioral patterns. Many people are not aware that autistic children are not lazy. In fact, they are very sensitive to all sorts of situations, like,  sound, smell and touch.

They have great difficulty in acquiring language skills

because they tend to understand words literally. They have no sense of humor and they are not social beings. They like to do things alone and by themselves and they cannot conform to rules and formalities. They like routine and are most comfortable when left to do things on their own. And they tend to be repetitive and have very narrow interests.

But, children with autism can be taught special skills

which they are good at, especially mathematical skills. They may become good researchers and because of their particular attention to details, they may become good artists. There are now special schools, interests groups and colleges where these autistic children can go to and be trained for the job market to be independent and productive individuals and be useful in society.

One interest group in particular was set up by a mother of an autistic child and is now helping other autism children learn new skills and cope with the challenges of life.  The Pathway, and there is also a college which started a program especially for highly motivated autistic young adults to prepare them for the job market. So that they can be self reliance, independent and be a productive member of society. The UCLAextension.edu/

Autism – The Pathway Story

The Pathway story begins..

There is now an opportunity, a way out for those who have autism – Asperger Syndrome, to further themselves in learning a skill which will help them find employment. This is due largely, to the fact and thanks to those who are responsible and committed to help these ‘developmenal challenged’ children.

Special thanks to Ms Marj Friedman

a staunch supporter and advocate who initiated the start of a college educational program in UCLA for young adult with development challenges. This is to help these ‘special’ young adults develop skills that will enable them to find employment and lead normal lives.

The objective is to train them to be gainfully employed

and become useful citizens of society and lead independent lives. This special vocational training and program will instead turn them into career minded individuals instead of just doing a dead end ‘job’.

Now, there is hope and an opportunity

for those who are afflicted with Autism – Asperger Symdrom to attain a college education and lead normal lives.

Cholesterol – And Your Overall Health

The Role Cholesterol Plays In Your Overall Health

There are many people who are very concerned about their cholesterol levels. They try to monitor their cholesterol levels by excluding eggs from their diet. But there is a big difference between blood cholesterol and dietary cholesterol. And the part they play in your health.

Cholesterol is a fatlike substance found in certain foods, especially meat, shrimps and craps. Cholesterol is also made by your liver. It is responsible for the production of hormone, bile and vitamin D.

Blood cholesterol, as the name implies, is found in your blood.

There are two types of blood cholesterol found in our body. The High-density lipoprotein (HDL) often known as the ‘good’ cholesterol and the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels, also known as the ‘bad’ cholesterol.

By maintaining a balance of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ cholesterol

you can protect your heart and brain from disease. Eggs are rich in lecithin—a powerful antioxidant that protects your cells from damage. Eggs also contain higher protein quality than those found in meat, milk or fish and also contain a large amounts of vitamins A, E and B complex. When eaten in moderation eggs can be one part of your diet to help control your dietary cholesterol.

The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends

that you limit your daily dietary cholesterol intake to less than 300 milligrams (mg).
Cholesterol is also produced in the body by the liver. If you keep a close watch on your saturated and unsaturated fat intakeand your dietary cholesterol levels, you can control your blood cholesterol levels.

Many people use natural solutions to avoid taking cholesterol-lowering statin drugs. These drugs can cause damage to your heart, brain and other organs when taken over a period of time.

Also, for those who are taking statins

- a lowering cholesterol medication – can lessen the production of coenzyme in their body, which is responsible for protectiing the heart and brain. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a powerful supplement that can boost your heart and brain health by supplying your cells with endless energy and protection. Decreased CoQ10 levels can lead to heart and brain failure, and prescription statins wipe out your supply of this essential nutrient.

Cholesterol – Your Doctor’s Advice Could Damage Your Health

Your Doctor’s Advice Could Damage Your Health

The idea that cholesterol is ‘bad’ has been ingrained into most people’s  minds. The medical profession have told us the wrong thing for the past 20 years, on an ‘invented disease’ which was used to spawn an entire industry of harmful cholesterol-lowering drugs, statins.

Cholesterol has been turned into a villain and an enemy

In fact, cholesterol is actually one of the building blocks for every cell in your body. Cholesterol is your friend not the enemy. But, because of the lying, it has lined the pockets of the pharmaceutical industry for the past two decades. Cholesterol has also been used to demonise entire categories of food like, red meat, eggs and saturated fats. They started the myth, that fats is one of the worst foods you can consume.

Thus, cholesterol became a household name that instilled fear into the people,  for being one of the  ‘main causes’ of heart disease, heart attacks and early deaths. The fact is, you need cholesterol to survive. Cholesterol is a vital component of every cell membrane in your body. There can be no life without cholesterol.

This soft, waxy substance is found in every cell of your body

and it helps to produce cell membranes, hormones, vitamin D and bile acids that are used to digest the fats. The UVB rays in sunlight interact with the cholesterol on your skin and convert it to vitamin D. If your cholesterol levels are too low you won’t be able to use the sun to generate sufficient levels of vitamin D. Vitamin D plays an important role in almost all aspects of our health. It is responsible in helping to boost immunity and  ward off cancer.

If cholesterol is so ‘dangerous’ as indicated by the doctors, why would your body use it as a precursor for vitamin D and virtually all of the steroid hormones in your body?  In fact, your body cannot make oestrogen, testosterone, cortisone and many other vital hormones without cholesterol.

Cholesterol is also found in your brain

It helps with the formation of memories and is vital for all neurological function. Not only does your body use cholesterol for all of these functions, it also produces it because your body needs it in order to operate efficientally.

Your liver and other cells in your body make about 75 per cent of the blood cholesterol. The other 25 per cent comes from the different foods you eat.

Cholesterol and inflammation

The main culprit behind heart disease and many other arterial diseases is inflammation and not cholesterol. But, cholesterol often gets the bad name and got blame for it. In fact, there is a very important link between cholesterol and inflammation.

Inflammation is your body’s natural response to invaders it sees as threats. If you get a cut for example, the process of inflammation is what allows your wound to heal.

The following process happens during inflammation:

Your blood vessels constrict to keep you from bleeding to death.

Your blood becomes thicker so it can clot easier.

Your immune system quickly sends cells and chemicals to fight the viruses and the bacteria  that could infect the affected area.

The cells on their own accord, multiply to repair the damaged parts.

Ultimately, the cut is healed and a protective scar forms over the area

The same thing happens inside a damaged artery, except that the ‘scar’ is known as plaque. The plaque and the thickening of your blood along with constricting blood vessels that normally occur during the inflammatory process, can increase your risk of high blood pressure and heart attacks.

So cholesterol came to the rescure to do what it is designed to do and replace the damaged cells. When a cell is damaged, your liver will start to make more cholesterol and release it into your bloodstream. This biological process happens so that your body can produce new, healthy cells with the help of cholesterol and thus allowing your body to heal itself.

If damage occurs in your body on a regular basis

then you are in danger of suffering from chronic inflammation. This will lead to elevated cholesterol levels which in turn will quickly try to keep the inflammation under control.

Why having high cholesterol isn’t always bad
